13 Custom Electric Traction Winches – High-Duty Project for a Steel Plant in Mexico

A major steel facility in Mexico entrusted ILC with the delivery of 13 custom electric traction winches designed for continuous industrial use. The objective: provide different winch configurations while ensuring centralized Ethernet control across the entire system.

Key technical challenges

• Harsh industrial conditions (dust, heat, intensive duty cycle).
• Integration of multiple line types: wire rope, chain and strap.
• Constant-speed requirements for specific winches.
• Centralized supervision from a control room.

ILC’s solution

We delivered:

• 1× 1.15 T winch – 50 m cable – ABB VFD
• 1× 1.15 T winch – 50 m chain – ABB VFD
• 11× 1.15 T winches – 155 m strap – ABB constant-speed drive

All winches were FAT-tested prior to shipment, ensuring optimal reliability onsite.
