Six Custom Lifting Winches for Cable-Laying Vessels – Manufacturing Phase
Context & challenge
Louis Dreyfus Armateurs entrusted ILC with designing and manufacturing six marine lifting winches for two cable-laying vessels. Key constraints included offshore reliability, precise maneuvering and high safety requirements.
Solution & execution
The scope includes:
- 2 stainless-steel IP66 control cabinets with VFD and joystick / remote operation.
- 4 marine winches 10 T with variable speed, twist-lock deck mounting and angle gearbox.
- 2 marine winches 10 T with variable speed, radio control and angle gearbox.
The first units received their marine-grade coating and were assembled prior to bench tests.
Key technical challenges
- Heavy-duty corrosion protection for offshore operations.
- Variable-speed control for precision lifting.
- Dual control modes: joystick and radio.
