Two 10-ton Electric Winches for Barge Movement – CEMEX
Context & challenge
As part of its river terminal renovation, CEMEX needed to maneuver 2,500-ton barges within a confined space on an existing installation. The challenge: integrating high-capacity winches without modifying the structure, while ensuring flawless safety.
Solution & execution
ILC delivered a full package including:
- 2 electric winches 10 tons,
- traction cables + 360° swivel fairleads,
- on-site mechanical installation and electrical wiring,
- commissioning and load tests.
All winches received C4-M marine coating to withstand humidity and corrosion.

On-site delivery
These warping winches consist of a right-angle gearbox, a drum protection guard, a cable pressure roller and a local electrical control device with a flashing beacon.


Installation


Two rotating cable guides positioned opposite each of the winches make it possible to direct the pulling cables in all directions, under the best conditions of use and safety for the operator (crane operator or bargeman).
